Philippine vessel was on a fuel-subsidy mission for Filipino fishermen. PCG says the Chinese vessel first crossed the Philippine ship's stern at close range before making contact. The Philippine vessel sustained damage to railings, metal supports and deck equipment; no injuries were reported in the Reuters account. China Coast Guard has given a different account, saying the Philippine vessel disregarded warnings, altered course and accelerated across the Chinese vessel's bow, and that the Philippine side was responsible.
